We are looking for Kitchen Porters, who want to be an integral part of our professional and friendly kitchen team. You will have a background working in kitchen environments, exceptional hygiene standards, and a strong work ethic.
Being a part of the kitchen team is special at Heligan. There’s only 157 yards from kitchen garden to plate at Heligan. Our 2-acre productive garden produces 4.5 tonnes of fruit and vegetables each year and it forms the heart of our menu. We have 5 outlets that serve a variety of food and drink to over 350,000 visitors per year.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning BOH and FOH dishes including, washing pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, including wiping down surfaces, sanitizing food prep areas, organising fridges/freezers, correct removal of bins and recycling.
- Following HACCP standards and adhering to guidelines. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards.
- Ensuring the kitchen is organized and all equipment is properly stored.
- Assist with receiving and storing food supplies and ingredients.
- Assisting chefs with food preparation tasks, such as cutting vegetables or prepping ingredients.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Working in Hospitality outlets throughout the gardens: Heligan Kitchen, Stewards House, Meadow Kitchen, BBQ, Bakery.
- Be smart, polite and helpful at all times, creating an exceptional standard of visitor experience across all Hospitality areas.

Requirements
- Previous experience is beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate with staff members.
- High levels of attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Physically able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
- Willing to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays as needed.
- Ability to use kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, hotplates, cookers, etc.
