Winter Magic at Heligan

Winter Gardens at Heligan

As the days shorten and nights draw in, Heligan nestles into its own peacefulness during the winter season. Frost tips bare branches and hazes over Victorian glasshouses. The gardens are filled with the magical stillness of crisp mornings and the low, red light of a winter sun.

Heligan Night Garden – an enchanting lantern experience

The award-winning winter garden light trail returns from mid-November and runs until early January. This is a spectacular not to be missed and a highlight across the southwest and beyond. Every year a new trail reveals the hidden flora and fauna of the gardens, inspired by the wildlife and characters which call Heligan home. The trail winds through the historic gardens and estate for over 1 mile, illuminated by hundreds of thousands of fairy lights and over twenty traditional, hand-crafted lanterns. Expect Christmas experiences, fire pits, illuminated tractors and a magical garden light show like no other.

Tickets are available from early September. Click here for further information.

Father Christmas Experience at Heligan

This enchanting, experience is complimented with sustainable, traditional gifts for children, set in the evocative and magical Head Gardener’s office. For those in the know, this is the Father Christmas experience in Cornwall. Tickets are limited and available from early September.

For those looking to host Christmas parties or Christmas lunches we are delighted to offer traditional Christmas lunches. You can view past menus here, and each year the Heligan Chefs design a menu inspired by the produce, preserves and home-reared breeds of the estate. A celebration of togetherness for friends and family.

Winter days out in Cornwall

Home to the best winter walks in Cornwall, take in the sights and sounds of 200 acres of woodland and estate, or visit the Heligan Hide to take part in the annual RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch count. Discover the magic of The Jungle in the rain - Heligan is a garden for all seasons, with a warm welcome every day.
