Homecoming Presents – Merlin Hanbury-Tenison
-
17 Sep: 6:30pm doors open at 6pm
We are excited to invite you to join us this Autumn as we launch an inspirational new programme at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. ‘Homecoming Presents’ will welcome authors, musicians, poets, horticulturalists, chefs, artists and thought leaders to Cornwall for intimate evenings and important conversations.
We’re delighted to be kicking off this series with a Cornish neighbour, the fascinating Merlin Hanbury-Tenison. Merlin is the co-founder of Cabilla Cornwall, and the founder of The Thousand Year Trust. His work to restore ancient and beautiful temperate rainforest wilderness to Cornwall is remarkable, and his personal insight into the healing power of nature truly moving.
In a Q&A with Matthew Shaw, Merlin will read from his debut book ‘Our Oaken Bones’, which was recently shortlisted for the ‘The Wainwright Prize’, the UK’s foremost literary award celebrating nature, conservation, and environmental writing.
Following their conversation, we’ll be screening the premiere of a short film made recently at Heligan featuring Merlin alongside Carl Rowlinson, the co-founder of Plant One*, and our very own Laura Smit-Chesterfield, Dan Ryan and Jeremy Fielden.
Merlin will be signing copies of his book after this event.
Tickets - £5 per person
Heligan Members - Free (please press "book members tickets")
*Plant One is a community Interest Company (CIC) aiming to combat climate change and the biodiversity crisis by planting new woodlands and restoring natural habitats across the southwest of England.
