Join us for a Cornish celebration as we host the first ever Global Pasty Championships, a day dedicated to the world’s favourite hand-crimped creation.
Taking place on the Saturday before St Piran’s Day, this new event brings together bakers, families and food lovers from Cornwall and beyond for a joyful celebration of pasty-making, music and Cornish pride.

We’re searching for the ultimate pasty champions across a range of categories, from traditional Cornish recipes to creative global twists.
Open to both professionals and home bakers
Junior categories available (children can enter with an adult and even use treasured family recipes)
Speed-crimping challenge to crown the kings and queens of crust
A Day of Pasty-Themed Fun
Beyond the competition, visitors can enjoy:

Why Heligan?
Heligan is the spiritual home of the Cornish pasty, with the earliest known written recipe dating back to 1764, when a mutton pasty was recorded in a letter to Heligan’s squire, John Tremayne. There’s no better place to celebrate Cornwall’s most iconic dish.
Cornish pasty company
Open to companies producing Cornish pasties to UK GI rules. Pasties must be commercially available products.
Alternative pasty company
Open to companies producing non-UK GI compliant savoury pasties (for example, anything produced outside Cornish or with a non-traditional filling). Pasties must be commercially available products.
Cornish pasty individual.
Open to individuals aged 16 or over, both amateur and professional, making Cornish pasties to UK GI rules.
Alternative pasty individual
Open to individuals aged 16 or over, both amateur and professional, making non-UK GI compliant savoury pasties.
Cornish pasty junior
Open to young people between the ages of five and 15 (with an adult helper if required) making Cornish pasties to UK GI rules.
