Heligan Wild Week

Sat 29th - Sun 6th June 2021

Daily 10am – 5pm, Located on East Lawn

Wild Week returns to The Lost Gardens of Heligan this May half term and you’re invited to join us to rediscover your wild side, to restore your survival skills and to enjoy a week of much needed outdoor play.

Begin your day by exploring the Giant’s Head Adventure Trail and follow the route to East Lawn.

Gather your tribe, paint your own face, and get ready to take part in our wild activities.

Join us as we take on the challenge to create an enormous world record breaking insect hotel! Insects are incredible and so important to us all so come along to learn why! While you’re here, we would love for you to assist us in building the new insect hotel that will provide a safe place to take shelter and to hibernate for a variety of creatures. To beat the record, we will need help from all you Heligan Wild Things!

Discover our survival skills enclosure where the team from Canoe Cornwall will teach you how to throw an axe like a woodsman, and to take aim and fire with our target practice lessons. What skills for survival in the wild will you learn?

(Lessons are open to all ages)

Our wild outdoor assault course awaits adventurers big and small to test your wild animal instincts: can you fly like an owl through the trees? Scramble through our fox’s den? Hop like a frog? And balance over our large outdoor play space like a beautiful butterfly?

Our wild feasting tent will be open daily to tempt you to try some of our wild food tasters. Open your mind and test your taste buds with our wild food tasting sessions. Dare to try our insect custard or crunchy critters, BBQ specials or garden delights. Our chefs will be on hand to surprise and delight the curious and fearless amongst you. Meet our wild chef team and get talking about the wonders of foraging, wild game, and the sustainable food source of the future.

(From 11-3pm daily during Wild Week.)

After you’ve explored and awakened your wild side, wind down and chill out by our campfire.

Learn some simple bush craft skills; try your hand at fire striking and work together with your friends and family to make rope and create your very own Wild Thing wrist band.

All Heligan Wild Week activities are included within normal garden admission charges.
