‘Turn a New Leaf’ Winter Walk + Heligan Soup Month

In the spirit of New Year, this January and February we invite you to ‘turn over a new leaf’ and connect with nature. Pop your wellies on and join us for a healthy, restorative walk to truly appreciate the wonders of winter at Heligan.

Known as green exercise, research shows that walking in a natural environment can actively improve your health and well-being, reduce stress, boost immunity and can increase our ability to concentrate and think with greater clarity. This year we’re encouraging you to venture outside and spend some time connecting with nature with our ‘Turn a New Leaf’ winter walk.

The Heligan Team have worked together to develop two walks. Choose a longer, more challenging route around our wider Estate or the shorter, more accessible route around The Garden. Each walk journeys around Heligan where we share seasonal horticultural highlights, fascinating facts of our abundant flora and fauna and moments to enjoy; all of which you can enjoy at your own pace.

After your walk, why not treat yourself to a hearty breakfast or spot of lunch within our Heligan Kitchen.

January sees the return of Heligan Soup Month, so take a moment to warm up by the fire and enjoy a nourishing bowl of homemade soup.

The Heligan Kitchen has dedicated the month of January as ‘Heligan Soup Month’. With seasonal produce, such as leeks and winter greens arriving daily, the chefs are excited to create at least three different homemade soups every day with vegan, vegetarian and meat/fish options available.

There are many different variations on the theme of soup, each offering a wide range of nutritional benefits. Heligan’s soups are created using only fresh, Heligan grown and local produce, free of any additives or preservatives and simply brimming with wholesome goodness.

Whilst winter still has us in its cold and icy grip, what better than a big, hot bowl of homemade soup to chase away the chills. Come and sit by the log burner and warm your cockles with these delicious, hearty, seasonal soups.

Heligan reared beef goulash and roasted pumpkin and rosemary are just some of the mouth-watering combinations that will be available throughout ‘Heligan Soup Month’. The Heligan Kitchen, with its warm and friendly atmosphere and roaring wood burner is the perfect escape from the chilly winter days.

Heligan’s soups are available daily between 12pm and 2.30pm and are served with a freshly baked roll or a cheese scone from the Heligan Bakery (gluten free bread is always available!).

The Kitchen, car park and facilities are open daily to all and are free of any admission charge

Our ‘Turn a New Leaf’ walk runs between 6th January – 29th February 2020.
