Dr Lucy Loveday’s Summer Wellbeing Experience at The Lost Gardens
18 July – 6th September
This summer, we invite you to take part in a ‘Summer Wellbeing Experience’, part of a new collaboration between Heligan and South West based GP Dr Lucy Loveday. This unique summer journey has been created against a backdrop of “growing scientific evidence that reveals the value that nature experience has to benefit our mental health and wellbeing” – Dr Lucy Loveday

During this crisis and time of unprecedented stress, many of us are discovering personal resilience through connection with nature.
As we hope to recover together, it is essential that we acknowledge, appreciate and deepen our understanding of the connection between human health and the health of the natural world. One cannot exist without the other. Encouragingly there now exists a growing body of scientific evidence that reveals the value and potential that nature experience has, to benefit our mental health and well-being. The evidence also suggests that people who have access to nature are much more likely to engage in environmentally sustainable behaviours too.
In England alone, 1 in 4 of the adult population will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime. In recent years, rates of depression & anxiety in young people have increased. These figures tell us that despite economic growth and material prosperity we are not happy. Globally many people continue to live in poverty, and inequality is a real challenge that needs to be urgently addressed.
Now is the time to forge a new path.
Because ultimately, our survival as a species depends upon transitioning to a future that is sustainable. We need to fully recognise the interdependent welfare of all species and place the well-being of all people and the planet at the centre of a way forward.
Summer Wellbeing Journey
At The Lost Gardens of Heligan, we recognise that each individual will experience nature differently. This experience will be personal to you, and so with this in mind, we have deliberately curated an experience that offers you the opportunity to engage with nature in a variety of different ways.
I am delighted to be working with The Lost Gardens of Heligan on this project because our relationship with nature feels more relevant now than ever before.
We invite you to embrace this opportunity to embark on a journey for your wellbeing this summer ....
May your journey be enjoyable, empowering and transformative.
