About the Role

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are pleased to be looking to recruit an Events Manager specialising in corporate events and weddings. To be an integral part of the team and to enhance the offering of the new Heligan Learning hub project – The Seed Pod.

This exciting new project aims to ignite curiosity in the natural world, while providing incredible events for our guests.

With The Lost Gardens of Heligan as the classroom the role will deliver experiences that combine outdoor learning and the natural world while utilising the unique assets and spaces that Heligan has to offer.

This exciting role will sit within the Hospitality team as well as collaborating with the Heligan Learning & Wellbeing department.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, creative and ambitious with an ability to inspire curiosity in the natural world and a passion for education and wellbeing.

 

Job Description

Job Title: Events Manager (Corporate & Weddings)

Main Duties:

  • To co-ordinate, plan and facilitate private events, corporate hospitality and weddings, while providing a professional and co-ordinated service resulting in exceptional events and experiences for our clients and guests
  • To create sales through communication with potential clients, businesses and organisations via in-person meetings and online communication.
  • Collaborating with all departments across Heligan to ensure the efficient management of the events calendar and day of execution onsite.
  • Managing a ‘day of’ events team, providing detailed information to ensure clear execution of events.
  • Assess, develop and deliver corporate and hospitality event opportunities linked to the wider business plan.
  • Work collaboratively with the Heligan Learning & Wellbeing department to ensure a seamless and joined up approach to operations and delivery for events that take place at the Seed pod
  • Gather feedback from attendees and clients and report findings while utilising feedback effectively.
  • Manage and maintain relevant facilities and equipment.

Key Skills

  • Proven experience in the events and hospitality industry with an ability to manage several events and schedules at one time.
  • A background in high end hospitality, heritage and/or learning.
  • Able to remain calm in changing situations by being flexible with changing requirements
  • A love of food and enthusiasm for where our food comes from at Heligan. This is a key selling point for our couples and clients.
  • Ability to ‘sell’ our key features at Heligan with a friendly manner, to not be a salesperson, but someone who understands the wants of our couples and clients.
  • Self-starter and ability to work autonomously
  • Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple demands and to prioritise accordingly
  • Experience in delivering excellent customer service

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Relevant qualifications and training in events / project management

The Package

Annual salary:  £30k per annum

Duration

Permanent, hours varying throughout week dependent on events. Must be available to work early mornings, evenings and weekends.
