Charcoal Day
13th July 2012
Each month, Heligan’s Estate Team invites you into the heart of its historic Lost Valley to witness and learn all about the ancient art of charcoal making
Charcoal production has been documented in Heligan’s Lost Valley since 1622. An incredible 390 years later and the Heligan Estate Team carry on this ancient tradition producing both barbeque and artist’s charcoal from our sustainably managed woodlands.
Charcoal Days offer you the perfect opportunity to observe charcoal making at first hand and may also present the opportunity for you to get involved in the production of artist’s charcoal.
Simply make your way down to the kilns in the Lost Valley between 11am and 1pm on the following Fridays –
February 17th
March 16th
April 13th
May 18th
June 15th
July 13th
August 17th
September 14th

The Heligan charcoal experience is FREE to garden visitors
